Chicken Banjara Recipe





 Chicken Banjara is a flavorful and aromatic Indian dish that originated from the region of Rajasthan. It is known for its rich and spicy flavors. Here's a recipe for Chicken Banjara:

Ingredients:

1 pound (450g) chicken, cut into pieces

2 tablespoons oil

1 large onion, finely chopped

2 tomatoes, pureed

2 teaspoons ginger-garlic paste

1 teaspoon turmeric powder

1 teaspoon red chili powder

1 teaspoon cumin powder

1 teaspoon coriander powder

1 teaspoon garam masala

1/2 cup plain yogurt

1 tablespoon fresh cilantro leaves, chopped

Salt to taste

For the marinade:

2 tablespoons plain yogurt

1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste

1 teaspoon red chili powder

1 teaspoon turmeric powder

1 teaspoon cumin powder

1 teaspoon coriander powder

Salt to taste

Instructions:


In a bowl, combine all the ingredients for the marinade. Add the chicken pieces and coat them well. Let the chicken marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Heat oil in a large pan or skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.

Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another minute until the raw smell disappears.

Add the tomato puree and cook for 2-3 minutes until the oil separates from the mixture.

Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and garam masala. Mix well and cook for 2 minutes to release the flavors.

Add the marinated chicken to the pan and cook on medium heat until the chicken is browned on all sides.

Reduce the heat to low and add the plain yogurt. Stir well to coat the chicken with the yogurt.

Cover the pan and simmer for about 20-25 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and tender. Stir occasionally.

Once the chicken is cooked, adjust the salt according to taste. If needed, you can add a little water to adjust the consistency of the gravy.

Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves.

Serve the Chicken Banjara hot with naan, roti, or rice.
